Care Instructions
So.. you purchased an item from me or are thinking about purchasing one and want to know how to properly care for it? You have come to the right place!
I always include care instructions with items that I have sold. and it will fall into two categories: 1) Handwash only Merino or Peruvian wool and air dry, or 2) Superwash Merino wool which is treated to tolerate being able to be washed in the machine.
Please see below the breakdown of your material to learn how to properly care for your item in detail.
OTHER TIPS:
ALL POM POMS SHOULD BE REMOVED BEFORE WASHING AND HAVE TIES ON THE INSIDE OF THE BEANIE. Pom Poms can be refreshed by combing with a hair comb or blowing lightly on low-cold setting with a hair dryer.
All faux leather tags can remain on the item no matter the method of washing and do NOT have to be removed.
If your item pills over time, as wool products always will, just use a sweater shaver and it will clean right off!
**HANDWASH ONLY MERINO OR PERUVIAN HIGHLAND WOOL ITEMS**
This wool is very warm and soft to the touch, however because it is not treated it must be cleaned with care. Under NO circumstances should it be put in the dryer or washing machine for any amount of time.
1) TO WASH: Fill a small basin with a splash of Eucalan Wool Wash or a splash of mild detergent filled with COLD water. Squeeze item lightly and get out any grime or dirt. Gently squeeze out excess water when you remove from the basin. Eucalan Wool Wash you do not need to rinse out. If rinsing out detergent, do NOT place directly under running water as this can agitate your wool.
2) TO DRY: After squeezing out extra water, wrap item in a towel like a burrito and step on it. That's right, just walk all over it! Doing so will ensure that a majority of the water is out of the item. Lay item flat until dry. Attach pom pom if applicable when completely dry and enjoy!
**HOW TO WASH SUPERWASH MERINO WOOL OR 100% ACRYLIC ITEMS**
Superwash Merino is treated and is able to withstand the agitation of the washing machine, only follow these instructions if your care card indicated it could be washed in the machine and that the material was SUPERWASH merino wool not 100% merino wool (follow handwash instructions above for that). I still prefer to handwash my items, but out of convenience if you need a quick wash after getting it dirty this is very convenient.
1) TO WASH: Either wash on a cold and gentle cycle in the machine with mild detergent. If you elect to handwash your item you can fill a small basin with a splash of Eucalan Wool Wash or a splash of mild detergent filled with COLD water. Squeeze item lightly and get out any grime or dirt. Gently squeeze out excess water when you remove from the basin. Eucalan Wool Wash you do not need to rinse out. If rinsing out detergent, do NOT place directly under running water as this can agitate your wool.
2) TO DRY: You CAN place it in the machine if you would like, however do note that this may increase agitation more quickly and cause the yarn to pill faster than air drying, or may cause the hat to be slightly smaller thatn it was pre-washing. If you elect to air dry, after squeezing out extra water, wrap item in a towel like a burrito and step on it. That's right, just walk all over it! Doing so will ensure that a majority of the water is out of the item. Lay item flat to dry. If your hat feels a little over stretched or too large after air drying place it in the dryer on low for 2-5 minutes and it will tighten it back into shape. Attach pom pom if applicable when completely dry and enjoy!
